David Celia

Introducing David Celia and his band based out of Toronto, Canada - a world class musician who has played for audiences all over the U.K., U.S. and Canada.

"David Celia is one of the best talents to hit Merseyside from North America"
Alex McKechnie, Cavern Club
Liverpool, England

David is well respected around Toronto as an artist and working musician. His open and honest approach to life and music has drawn many popular artists in the city to call upon him not only as a guitar/vocalist, but also as a producer/engineer.

With regards to his musical style, it has been described as "roots-rock with hints of folk wrapped up in a pop package" – the wordiness being a direct indication of the difficulty people have had trying to pigeonhole his songs. Flawless 3 and 4 part harmonies are usually the first thing that audiences are drawn to in the live set but ultimately it’s the songwriting that gives the music a timeless feel.

David has received radio play regularly on CBC Radio in Canada as well as on the BBC in the UK and WNYC in New York. Tracks from his 2002 LP Organica were featured on BBC2’s highly regarded Bob Harris Show. He recently performed live in the studio on Keith Warmington’s popular Drive-Time show in Bristol, England. A live performance was also given on David Garland’s popular show ‘Spinning on Air’ in Lower Manhattan.

David’s band earned kudos from EMI Parlophone artists The Divine Comedy when they asked him to open up for them on their first-ever Canadian show. Divine Comedy frontman Neil Hannon said the music featured: "excellent musicianship" and was both "elegant and melodic". The David Celia Band also had great reviews when they opened for Australian Roots-Rock stars The Whitlams in Toronto.

After receiving countless positive reviews for his solo debut Organica in 2002, David Celia continues to tour and record. Expect a new LP and many good things from David in early 2004.
